Carl Sagan, 1934-1996 (TRUM 0111)

Our late friend Carl Sagan, about Trumpett:

"Thirteen billion years ago, when an early galaxy began to pour light out into the
surrounding darkness, no witness could have known that billions of years later, orbiting
around one of the maybe four hundred billion stars in this galaxy, some remote clumps of rock
and metal, ice and organic molecules would fall together to make a place called Earth. On which
life would arise and thinking beings would evolve, a few very smart of whom would one day
establish Trumpett.
And after Earth dies, about five billion years and thousands of Trumpett releases from now,
after Earth is long burned to a crisp and maybe even swallowed by its star, there will be other
stars and worlds coming into being. But they will know nothing of Earth and Trumpett."

Sobering words.
